Biography

Chumani Ngqumshe (born October 6, 1992), better known as ChewMoney is a rapper, songwriter and graphic designer hailing from Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. Inspired by the movie 8 Mile, he began penning rhymes and developing his craft. In 2015, after moving to Pretoria, he joined the creative collective Aphex. Later, in 2018, he became part of the N.M.E. (New Movement Entertainment) collective in Strand.

ChewMoney made his mark with his debut mixtape, Rest.Art - The Genesis (2015), followed by Nirvana (2016). He continued to evolve with Call It What You Want Coz It’s Yours (2018), which delves into more conscious themes. The year 2018 also saw the release of Rest.Art 2. His fifth mixtape, Rebellion (2021), tackles pressing social issues like drug abuse, unemployment, and gang violence in South Africa. His single "Money" (2021), produced by Aidan Dawg and Garth Jung, is a bilateral aspirational anthem.

Currently, ChewMoney is actively working on new music, always pushing the boundaries of his artistry.
